Essential Book-Keeping Award 

  • Course Objective: By studying this Award you will be introduced to the double-entry principles of book-keeping to enable you to move on to learn computerised accounts using Sage software. In addition, you will gain valuable skills in Microsoft Excel which is a popular spreadsheet program.

  • Designed For: The Essential Book-keeping Award comprises courses suitable for those with an aptitude for figures who wish to learn manual book-keeping and computerised accounts.

  • Prerequisites: None.

Course Content:

  • Book Keeping Level 2  Module 1 – To teach manual book-keeping as well as introduce the basics of keeping accurate accounting records to those running a small business

  • Microsoft Excel – Learn spreadsheet skills to a good business standard. This will enable you to create spreadsheets, enter data, formulas and functions, create charts and more
    OR
    Microsoft Excel Expert – Learn advanced spreadsheet skills, covering areas such as importing and exporting data, creating and using templates, linking workbooks, data management, using analysis tools and pivot tables

  • Sage Line 50 – Convert your manual book-keeping skills to computerised accounts using the most popular software

  • Designed For: Suitable for those with an aptitude for figures who wish to learn manual and computerised payroll.

  • Prerequisites: None.

 Course Content:

  • Microsoft Excel – Learn spreadsheet skills to a good business standard. This will enable you to create spreadsheets, enter data, formulas and functions, create charts and more
    OR
    Microsoft Excel Expert – Learn advanced spreadsheet skills, covering areas such as importing and exporting data, creating and using templates, linking workbooks, data management, using analysis tools and pivot tables

  • Practical Payroll Level 2 - Uses real-life scenarios to convey a variety of payroll topics. You will gain sufficient knowledge to move quickly on to Sage Payroll

  • Sage Payroll - Convert your manual payroll skills to computerised skills using this most popular program, including statutory sick and maternity pay

Foundation In Bookkeeping Diploma

  • Course Objective: To provide you with the essential skills to successfully work as a book-keeper.

  • Designed For: Those who wish to develop essential manual and computerised book-keeping skills.

  • Prerequisites: None.

Course Content:

  • Book Keeping Level 2 – Module 1 – To teach manual book-keeping as well as introduce the basics of keeping accurate accounting records to those running a small business

  • Book Keeping Level 2 – Module 2 – Covers bank reconciliation, sales and purchase ledger control accounts, accounting for bad debt, correcting errors, preparing statements of account, reconciliation of statements of account, paying invoices falling due and using information from within the double entry system to prepare a VAT Return

  • Book Keeping Level 2 – Module 3 – Includes preparing a trial balance from the ledger accounts, using the journal to start up a new set of double entry accounts, bad debts, the suspense account, calculating depreciation, extending the trial balance, calculating profit or loss, preparing a profit and loss account and balance sheet, closing off the ledger accounts and preparing the financial statements of a business

  • Microsoft Excel - Learn spreadsheet skills to a good business standard. This will enable you to create spreadsheets, enter data, formulas and functions, create charts and more
